Industrial alumina ceramic materials can be generally divided into 2 types as mentioned below.
- High Purity Alumina Ceramic Materials:
High purity alumina ceramic refers to the ceramic materials whose content of aluminum oxide exceeds 99%. Since the sintering temperature can reach up to 1650℃~1990℃ as well as its transmittance wavelength is between 1~6μm, it is usually to be produced molten glass to replace platinum crucibles.
This high purity alumina ceramic material is used to manufacture sodium lamp tubes for its optical property and alkali metal corrosion resistance. Moreover, it is also applied into integrated circuit substrates and high frequency insulative materials.
- Ordinary Purity Alumina Ceramic Materials:
According to its content of aluminum oxide, the ordinary purity alumina ceramic material generally includes 99%, 95%, 90% and 85%, but 80% and 75% also can be classified into ordinary one.
Among this type, 99% alumina ceramic material is commonly used to manufacture industrial ceramic crucibles, refractory ceramic tubes and special wear resistant ceramic parts such as ceramic bearings, ceramic seal components and water valves.

95% alumina ceramic materials is primarily used to manufacture corrosion and wear resistant industrial parts.
85% alumina ceramic materials are generally mixed with certain proportions of talcum in order to enhance its electrical properties and mechanical strength, so it can be used as components to seal with metals such as molybdenum, niobium and tantalum.
