After sintering and cooling, the whole manufacturing process of some alumina ceramic products does not finish. In order to fulfil further requirements of application, these products need to be subjected to machining processes, such as specification adjustment and polishing, etc.

Polishing details of alumina ceramic that need to be noticed are listed below.

1.Applying laser cutting process and ultrasonic wave manufacturing process to grind and polish Al2O3 ceramics.

2.Using ultra-fine alumina polishing powder or diamond paste to grind and polish Al2O3 ceramics.

3.Applying glaze coating process to polish if the products are required a super glossy surface.

4.Utilizing the materials that are harder than alumina such as diamond and SiC to grind and polish from rough grade to fine grade progressively.

5.Applying the ion-injection method to process the material surface. Injecting ion into ceramic material is not only a support method of toughening mechanism, but also a further processing of prepared ceramic products.

Alumina ceramic raw materials have excellent strength, so it is necessary to use grind tiles which are made of raw material with stronger hardness, such as SiC, B2C or diamond to apply further process on alumina ceramics surface.

In addition, it is required that the moisture property surface of alumina ceramic raw material during the further process. it is necessary to enhance the moisture of the surface of alumina ceramic raw materials in advance in order to improve the surface smoothness of alumina ceramic raw materials for depth processing and structural mechanical compressive strength improving.
